Every summer inevitably involves a wedding invitation. These are fantastic opportunities to celebrate the people you love, eat good food, and dance the night away. They are also a wonderful reason to purchase a new dress. Or maybe even a whole outfit. I did all of these things recently for my boyfriend’s cousin’s beautiful wedding at Stanley Park Pavilion in Vancouver. Putting together my outfit was tons of fun and it stood up through the heat, the eats, and the beats. I actually snagged this blushing gem for $20 at Winners. I loved the dropped waist and the texture of the fabric since I had to travel with it from the Island. The volume of the skirt was perfect for dancing.
Because the dress has a twenties vibe to it with the drop waist I wanted to make sure I balanced my references. Thus, the twenties inspired long string of pearls that I paired with a new pseudo spiky necklace. I kept the makeup understated with a slightly smoky eye, glowing skin, and nude lips – we know how much I love monochrome. My hair I left down (which was slightly torturous in the heat) and took to old Hollywood glam with Veronica Lake inspired waves.
The bag also came from Winners and clocked in at $8. I added a vintage brooch to the bag to give it some flair. The sunglasses -which have been a staple of my summer wardrobe – I picked up back in the Queen City at Uforia/Muse. And to finish of the look, a metallic pair of peep toe pumps that are a go to fancy shoe of mine. I switched them out later on for a pair of gold flats so I could dance the night away. Worked like a charm.
The final touch to my outfit? A cute date. He was styling in a linen bow-tie he made the night before. And they say women pack last minute…
